…. and we now explain what is it and how manage it.
A little bit of history
After setup, both Jira and Confluence are configured to perform a XML backup every day You can find this in Administrative section. My suggestion is: disable both and configure a strategy of backup for both Confluence and Jira.
Confluence
On confluence go to Administration section. Select Services , as shown in figure:
select Scheduled Jobs under ADMINISTRATION
than you can see the Back Up Confluence job.
The result of this job is create a backup file in standard directory:
Jira
Same procedure. Go to Administrative section, as show in figure:
Go to Services entry in ADVANCED
check if exist the entry Backup Service, as show in figure:
Entry is the a scheduled job that create a ZIP backup file in Default Directory (See following figure)

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for question. My suggestion is use a server script (Bash linux or Batch windows) to do this, so you can choose if move old backup in a NAS or other share.
Hope this help.
