How to integrate Jira with Telegram

In this post, we want to explain how to integrate Jira with Telegram.

At this moment exist a FREE integration ONLY for Jira Server (Not Jira Cloud) and it is very very powerful and highly recommended for instant communication for urgencies and incidences.

The app is:

Very easy to integrate. Just install the plugin as usual in Jira and go to the Managing Telegram Bot new option in the Add-ons section page of Jira and follow the instructions to create the new Bot (you need a cellphone with Telegram installed to do all the operation of course).

Now all is ready!

In your Telegram a bot will send you the Telegram-URL to connect to your bot.

Now go to a some random ticket of Jira to try the creation of a new channel in Telegram to discuss about the ticket. My recommendation is always put in the first comment of the ticket the same content of the description field (and will be sent to all members of the channel in Telegram).

Just push the “Create chat” button and select the members to chat.

That’s all!

Start chatting in Telegram, all the texts will be saved as comments of the Jira tickets! Amazing!! In this link more info.

At this moment, if you send an image, is not shown in Telegram… probably can be an improvement for the future of the add-on! Who knows…

If you need also to create tickets from Telegram, with this plugin is not enough. Probably you can try to use this Github code to create a Telegram bot.
